The number displayed in the notification bubble counters in the navigation menu counts the total number of collateral associated with that status. When you click on the selection, the landing page will display the number of cases and the number of collateral. This ensures you have accurate totals for cases with more than one VIN.

This brief video explains how bubble counters tally these totals.

Looking at the counter bubbles you will notice that the number of open cases you see matches the number of total collateral.

This is because you can have a case with more than one collateral on it.

As you see with the Closes/Holds there are two lines meaning two cases, but one case has two collateral.
